Orchid

We have an orchid.... Fell off our window ledge and the 2 flowers/stems broke off. Will new flowers grow, or is it garbage time?

Thx

It's possible to rebloom it, depending on the variety and some other factors.

In general, the way you promote reblooming is to fertilize it, cut the stalks back to the first good node, and stimulate the plant to bloom with temperature changes. You can learn more about it at orchid sites. Just search on "reblooming orchids".

Orchid

Probably depends on what type of orchid you have. You should be able to get most species to bloom. Remember orchids like lots of air and around their roots too so use an orchid bark. Do not use too concentrated or high nitrogen fertilizer. I raised lots of cymbidiums and they did best with regular feedings of fish emulsion. By the way, the bloomed best when roots were tight in their pots but not pot bound.

Orchids used to be considered exotic and were expensive. It is nice to see them at affordable price points.
