new grass and fall fertilizer.
I have new grass seed planted about 6 weeks ago, filling in very nicely but still seeing new sprouts. Been very dry here for Sept so it is not growing like it normally would. I mowed most of it the other night for the first time ever, my question is would it be ok to put down the fall fertilizer or just skip it until spring? The forecast for the next 2 weeks is dry and above normal temps for here in central Iowa.

Starter fertilizer yes. Water deeply so the roots can develop nicely to prepare for winter.

Agreed. Starter fertilizer, which is quite different from regular fertilizers these days to due state and local laws prohibiting phosphorus, is a great idea for getting those roots going before the cold. Most fertilizers these days will have no "P" number (10-0-10). Starter fertilizer will and is important for root stimulation.

No problem feeding now. I am not sure I would use a product with a high nitrogen content now though (first of the three numbers on the label) unless it is some time released form.
