Need help identifying this grassy plant

Hello all,

So I just moved into a new house and I'm attempting to get the lawn back up to par. I noticed I have a few patches of this grass-like plant growing, and I was wondering if anyone knew what it was and how to get rid of it as it's starting to really spread.

Looks sorta like centipede grass. Is it spreading low on the ground or growing upright?

Growing upright. It really looks like normal grass at first, I only noticed it because the morning dew made it look different. It all has a brownish stem and then a spray of 1-2" leaves at the top.

I have a few patches of that in my yard. Like notmrjohn, I think it's centipede grass. I'm going to try taking a rock rake to it and dig up what I can and replace with new fescue this weekend.

So you guys are trying to get rid of it. I bet if you did a search, you'd find sumbudy askin how to establish and maintain a centipede lawn. Yall could mebbee help um out. Seems like the best way to get a really great lawn of any kind of grass, is to try to get one of another kind.
