My Murray mower

I have checked for a carb bowl on this model and I don't see one. From what I can tell, there is no drain on the carb. Is there a way I can send you a schematic of the machine, showing all the parts, and you would be able to see the diagram of it? Although I did not see the carb listed on the
parts list.

Is the carb part of the Briggs and Stratton, and maybe doesn't show on the Murray manual?

It was getting dark outside, so I had to stop, but I will try again to restart the machine during daylight.

I will try taking off the fuel filter and looking for an arrow, and then reinstalling it first, before trying to restart.

Did that number come off the mower or the engine. There should be a 12 or 13 digit number on the engine cover. This will be something like xxxxxx-xxxx-xx I think that is the model, type and series.

When you cleaned the carb, did you mess with any adjustment screws on the carb? Speaking of cleaning, how did you 'clean' the carb?

When you get the correct engine number, go to the B&S site and enter it to see if you can get some info for your problem. THat or post the number here, and maybe someof us here can help you more.

Good luck!

Btw, if testing the plug for fire near the engine, do it a little away from the plug hole in case the cylinder is full of fuel. You don't want a flooded cylinder spewing fuel on the plug when/if it has spark!

My Murray mower

Dr. Hicks & Bowman47k,

When I cleaned the carb, I took it off, and then I cleaned it with some carb cleaner spray. I didn't do anything special to it, and put it back on.
The only thing I'm not sure of is the way the cotter pin looking piece goes on? I'm not sure, but I hooked it to the underneath side of the flat brass looking piece, and then to the under side of the black plastic piece?

Anyway, so since the last posting, I have bought new plugs and put them on, and put a new fuel filter on. Still not sure which side goes on which, but I put the bigger side closer to the fuel tank.

I took the hose off from the fuel filter since I know I am getting gas up to the fuel filter line. I then took the side to the carb off, and I don't see any fuel at that point?? So that's why I took off the hose and ran water through it. I put the fuel filter hose back on, and still not starting.

I think now what I'm going to do, is take the fuel line hose back off on the carb side and make sure the connection into the carb is clear? That's the only other thing I can think of?

If anyone has any other suggestions, let me know.

Thanks for all your help!

Trish
