Need more info here: What type of mower (push-riding), what wires are you crossing?

careful crossing wires you could burn out an ignition module in a heart beat

"i'm crossing the battery wire to start it" I'd still like more info here but- -I'm guessing you are "jumping" the battery from another battery to crank the mower. If you are jumping the battery and getting the mower to crank, you solved your own problem. You stated that you turned the mower on it's side, for some reason. Was the battery still in it when you turned it on it's side? IF SO--you probably ruined the battery. A lead/acid battery will build up "sulfates" as it is used over any period of time, from one hour to one year. Once you turn the battery on it's side the sulfate's will release from the plates and short out the other plates=dead battery, that's why the solenoid was clicking. So-if you are jumping the battery, and the mower cranks and runs, you need a new battery. Hopefully that is all you will need. David
