Murray Ride on will not start

I have a Murray ride on mower that got stuck in the sand. I tried to get it out then turned it off and left it until I could get help. Two days later tried to roll it out but the brake was stuck in the down position. Lifted the mower out of the sand and the brake came up.

Problem is that when I tried to start it it just clicked a few times then nothing. If I turn the key I get nothing now, no click either.

Odd thing is it ran fine before I got stuck and even when I was stuck. Turned it off and on in the process of trying to get out of the sand and it started.

Cleaned the terminals and replaced battery and plugs, still nothing.

Has someone look at it and he said it is done then tried to sell me a used ride on.

Anyone have an idea what it could be?

Make sure your getting 12v at the starter. Don't forget the switch in the seat ,you might check it. Take the battery to the parts store and let them check it.

Most obvious thing in your description is that something went wrong with the brake while you were getting it unstuck. I'm guessing theres a safety interlock switch on the brake that prevents it from starting unless the brake is pressed? Find this switch and make sure that it is being pressed while you're starting.

One test you can do is to use a screwdriver to jump the terminals on the starter. if the starter turns over, there's a good chance that one of your safety interlocks is malfunctioning.

Good luck.
