Mulberry Trees

Hello All, I have an old Mulberry tree in my hard. The fruits are dropping like crazy now and the flies are all over the place. They are buzzing all around the yard!

Is this normal? I dont remember it being like this last year.

Usually the birds eat them as soon as they begin to ripen, so they don't have a chance to litter the ground. Any strange weather-extra dry, late cold snap?

Actually we had a 4 days stretch of 95+ deg days. Weird for June here in Jersey.

My neighbor used to pay us a nickel a pint for picking up mulberries. Her's always hit the ground ripe and runny.
