MTD 4.75 HP snowblower won't run right

My MTD Gold Series snowblower won't run if you take the choke off or even half way off. Is this the sparkplug, or the carb or what? It is a 2001 model as far as I know. Model number 32AE172-022632932. Serial number 1G239B20212.

MTD 4.75 HP snowblower won't run right

I had a similar problem with my MTD. I drained out the bad fuel and ran fresh gas through it for about 20 minutes. It seems to be fine now, but no snow this season to really blow the carbon out of her.

Your carb is plugged, either with dirt or old fuel.

If it's the fuel, ethanol-blend has nothing to do with your problem. It's simply that the fuel is too old. "Shelf life" on gas is only about 4 weeks, and small engines, with their extremely small carbs, are very susceptible to old gas.

Remove the carb bowl, clean the entire carb thoroughly with spray carb cleaner, reassemble it correctly, put in new gas, and I'd bet my last dollar that you're good to go.
