leaf vac

today, i finally tried my cheapo craftsman leaf blower, as a leaf bagger. but without the bag. i was suprised at just how well it did.

but i have concerns.
it has a plastic prop. somehow i don't see this lasting. am i wrong ?

do you know of a better model that has a steel prop ?

As a leaf blower those things work fine. As a bagger there a joke.
Just blow the leaves out into the yard and chop them up with the mower or bag them up with a rake.
How big a yard do you have?
With my DR lawn vac I can do an acre of lawn collection in 1/2 hour.

it was actually chopping the leaves up pretty good. and blowing them out pretty far.
i do mow my leaves, screw that raking crap. but there are areas that the mower just doesn't get the leaves up.

my lot is 1/4 acre. its not large, but i do like the size.

You're right to be concerned.

It picks up a big enough twig, or a rock, and that impeller WILL break.

Been there done that.

it picked up a few twiggs, and was ok. though i didn't look at the prop.
idk if it is strong enough to pick up a rock.

i will look into a better blower. if my machine had a sharp steel blade there would be nothing but powder coming out of it.:thumbup:

I have the Toro 51599 Ultra Blower/Vac. It is variable speed and has a metal impeller. Fantastic at blowing, and reduces huge piles of leaves (with debris including twigs) into relatively few bags. My only complaint is the zipper on the supplied bag breaks easily; I keep a spare.

I put the bagger on my lawnmower when full dump on sidewalk. City comes and sucks them up. However it will be a month or two down the road. I usually mulch once then slap the bagger on.

Far sw suburb. I'm going to guess ORLAND PARK.LOL

stihl has a mulching blower also.

i think i will just use this one up. then get a good one.
