Lawn tractor transmission oil?

A relative just acquired a small riding mower. The manual transmission was apart and need a few small parts. He needs to know what oil/weight is needed before he closes it up?

If you go to the web site of the manufacture under specs it should tell you what they recommend since I have no clue as to who made it I cant steer you in that direction

Someone said that it may need grease (bentonite?)
If it is grease then how much should go in the gear box?
