lawn tractor problem

I have just drained the gas from my lawn tractor by pulling off the rubber connector on the bottom of the gas tank. Now I can't push it back in the hole. Is there a trick?

Need a little more information to help you here. What hole? Please describe the tank, connection, size of hose and the "hole".
