lawn/driveway

I have a large beautiful lawn. However, there is an area that is on the other side of the paved (asphalt) driveway that does not connect to any of the lawn areas - it butts up against the tree line and a hill. My two sons park in this area to keep their cars out of the way. The lawn there is sparse and not as nice anyway and their cars have not helped. Other than asphalting that area too, is there any other suggestions to make it look nice and and have them able to park their cars there? I thought of gravel, but have heard that is a hassle in the winter when snowblowing. Any ideas would be appreciated greatly!

Turf pavers work great for overflow parking:
