irrigation zone stuck on

One of my 4 zones was stuck open and after replacing the top portion of valve/solenoid, the pump was not pumping water to the sprinklers. So I was told by the pump manufacturer, that I needed to rebuild my pump, so I went to Ace to price a new pump, and the associate told me it sounded like it wasnt getting prime and all, so I bought some parts anyway (a psi gauge and a tee). I primed the pump with no joy. So I decided to put the old valve back on for sh*%s and giggles, and turned the pump on, and still that one zone was stuck open.
I am confused over the whole situation, and would love some help. Thanks

Did you unplug the wires to see if the zone shut off? Maybe the controller is commanding that zone all the time?

When all this started, I turned off the Rainbird controller with no joy, then I unplugged the Rainbird- still no joy. So to get the zone to stop, I had to unplug the pump. And again, that was with the broken valve/solenoid attached.
