Irrigation Questions

I operate an apartment community with a fairly good size irrigation system. The water comes from a lake in the center of the property and is pumped by one submersible pump/motor. I had a problem with the pump and it was down for a few weeks in which that time the grass started turningand the hedges started thinning. Well anyways I got it running again and wondering what is better. I know I need to get more water down for a while and will be having fertilizer going down this week. Should I run the system the normal days (every other day) for longer periods of time or daily for the normal amount of time. We are under water restrictions here which gives us only three days a week that we came legally run the irrigation but it is important that I don't let all the landscape die. What is more important, frequency of watering or total amount of watering? Any educated suggestions will be greatly apprecieated.

Irrigation Questions

me I would water longer time pds for the 3 days you are allowed to water. This will enable the water to sink and get to the roots, and will also leave more water in the soil for the plants to suck up during the day etc when you are not watering. Hope this helps.
