inground pool filled in

No longer have a need to look at new houses (but one of my kids is looking). Back then I came across several older homes 30-40 yrs old, that had filled in a pool with dirt.

At one I could see the blue tile edge of the pool sticking up a couple of inches in the grass.

I think this is probably not a good thing. One thing is how would things grow if you planted a tree or something on top?
