ID and Remove "Burrs" from Lawn

I live at the Jersey shore by the ocean, and I have these burrs on my lawn. They start green, then dry out and become brown and hard with spikes. I have tried a lot of lawn sprays, but they never die! Does anyone know the name of these weeds and how to get rid of them? Thanks!!

Stay on the killing spree; once that stuff gets established it is very difficult to get rid of; it spreads underground.

There's a product called Sedgehammer, that is supposed to be as effective as anything in killing the stuff.
