How do I fix my sprinkler?

I was walking around my home today when I noticed the inside of my sprinkler seems to of shot out under water pressure?!?!?!

I tried to put it back it place, but it seems to just sit there, how do I lock it down?
I tried to twist it but it don't seem to...?

So I turned off the sprinklers for tomorrow morning in hopes to get this fixed by tomorrow?

Please help me, I sure hope I dont have to tear up my lawn to replace the whole unit..?

Thanks.

You actually may get lucky and be able to unscrew it and simply screw a new one in. If that doesn't happen, screw the old one back in to keep dirt from getting in the water line, then dig out around it, like 3 inches on each side is all you need. Whenever I dug them out, I would start to unscrew it then reach my fingers underneath it and push the dirt down a little so that hopefully the water line stays clear. Install your new head, and worst case scenario if you did get dirt in the water you will just have to take the top and the filter of/out of the head and turn it on for a second to clear the line...

Moves some the rocks back by hand, pretty sure you will get lucky and just be able to screw a new one in...

How do I fix my sprinkler?

Thanks guys Don't know why I didn't think about how I can just unscrew it & screw another one back in its place..

I have plenty of spares..
& actually the lines run under the grass not the red lava rocks.

I replaced it today & it should be fine.

Strange how this thing broke..?

I thought it unscrewed itself under water pressure or something but as you can see the plastic actually broke?
Must of been cracked before putting it in & was only a matter of time?

That is a pretty normal spot for the head to break. Most of the time it happens when blowing the system out for the winter but can happen when it snaps up due to high water pressure.

Funny thing is I don't really have high water pressure.
& the winters here in SoCal are very mild.

On the edge of the grass on rocks like that I bet the mower wheel hits it once and a while and that was probably enough, but some times you just get a dud

They're in the lawn pretty deep, but you might have a point, I'll be more careful.
