Growing shrubs in soild with gravel in it?

I have some areas in the backyard next to the house that the previous owner for some reason had pea gravel. The soil is pretty good and i've been trying to get all the rocks out, but outside of digging it all up and replacing it with new soil, i'm not going to get them all. Will having some rocks in the soil effect planting shrubs there?

Dig out an area twice the size of the root ball add fresh top soil, it should be fine.

A little bit of left over pea gravel won't hurt anything, especially if you already have good soil.

If anything the pea gravel may help drainage but do get rid of it in the planting hole. Like mentioned make the planting hole 2-3 time as big as the container or root ball. AND 2-3 times as deep. Use good planting mix.

might want to get a piece of screening and when you dig the hole for the shrubs fine screen the dirt and the rocks will add up to the side...they do make good draining as mentioned
