grass suggestion

my "assistant" and I have just about finished clearing a "play space" in the back of the house for our dog. unfortunately it's mostly dirt and we'd like the ground covered with any kind of grass. any suggestions for a grass that is tough, can take a lot of sun and doesn't need much water?

tnx,

grass suggestion

You might see what type of natural prairie grasses or ground covers would grow where you are. Any sort of turfgrass is going to want regular maintenance and a fair amount of water. How about landscaping around something like a rubber paver (they come in all sizes, configurations and colors) play area for the dog rather than think in terms of turfgrass?
