getting rid of bermuda grass

I have a fescue lawn that is overun by crab grass and fescue. How do i get rid of the bermuda and crab grass. My lanscape guy is trying to convince me to switch to bermuda. I am concerned how it could impact my neighbors and also if there are higher maintenance costs associated with using bermuda. I live in charlotte, NC

It really depends on how overrun it is. If it is fairly minor, then you can just keep seeding with the seed you want to grow and you will eventually crowd out the other grass. If it has really mainly taken over, then you may have to kill it, work up the lawn and start fresh.

There is a pre-emergent you can put down early spring for crab grass. Triclopyr may do what you want killing the bermuda and leaving the fescue, you would have to look at a bottle and check what that formula will and won't kill.
