Front Yard Landscaping Idea's.

Hey everyone.. I'm a first time homeowner with a property that needs some help.. I've done some renos and cleanup since i moved in but its in some need of help. The lot is a double lot in a older part of town with a double car garage out back. The house is 3/4 stucco and 1/4 vinyl siding. The colors are not my favorite. I thought about replacing the siding to pop it out a bit or repainting the stucco and replacing the siding. Im just not sure on if i should do that first or start with the yard. The house looks like a house just dropped on a empty lot with no character. Ive included a couple pictures to help the idea.. I've already taken down the old cheap aluminum shutters and fixed/repainted the front deck. Helped the lawn along due to the previous owner not watering at all. Apparently the yard was to big and he didnt want to move the sprinklers.. anyway.. What should i do?? I thought about 2 crab/flowering tree's in the front and something along the sides.. What kinda idea's do you have? The first picture is without the cleanup..

I would consider siding it all or replacing the sided part with stucco or stone. Shrubs/evergreens on the sides to soften the corners. Location?

I'm located in Southern Alberta Canada. It gets rather cold here in the winter (-40ish) and hot in the summer (+30-40)..

Full siding would be a good idea but quite costly over paint and a smaller section of siding. Trying to do it as economical as possible.. True DIY fashion...

Hey man you have already made a world of difference to the appearance of the home. I would concentrate my time on landscaping at this point. The turf looks like its in bad shape so I would take care of that, wedding, fertilize, seed, and some topdressing. Lots of information online for that.

Then I would add some garden beds in the front. They will receive lots of sunlight so pick plants accordingly. It's not gonna be a 1 year thing so start off with some plants you like from the garden centre and try to build on that next year with complimentary plants. Perennials are worth their upfront cost cause the come back the following year, more established and grow rapidly.

I would add some shrubbery to the side of the house as well.

A couple of crabapple trees wouldn't be a bad idea but remember they produce crabapples and will litter the lawn.

As far as the house in concerned I would paint the stucco but it doesn't have to be done right away.

Good luck.

Thanks for the help guys.. The HGTV really helped.. I've been watching alot of the home shows to get some idea's. Not alot on landscaping though. Turns out it was a rainy weekend here so i was bound to my house. I started painting and updating trim and baseboards. Put in a new railing and finished the flooring. Was a good weekend but didnt help my yard. The rain made the grass green though so thats a plus.

I was thinking of planting 2 trees in the front and some sort of tree/flowering/plant bed on the side. just want to get a little more creative. Does anyone know of any online editor for landscaping that you can take your house and yard picture and add in?

Here's an updated picture.. Planted 3 trees and relocated some perrenials. Two fron tree's are Amur Maple Tree's and the one on the side is a Radiant Flowering Crabapple. If only it would stop raining for more than 12 hours so i can cut my lawn.. I still need to add some edge and mulch to the tree base..
