Freeze watch tomorrow - sprinklers not blown out!

I am a bit concerned. There is a freeze watch for tomorrow night. This has come as a bit of a surprise, and I haven't had my sprinklers blown out for the season yet.

Am I totally screwed? Is there anything I can do to limit the risk of the pipes freezing, or do I just cross my fingers and hope it doesn't get too cold?

Chillax. For it to freeze the pipes enough to burst, it would have to be well below 32 for more than an overnight.

I am still not blown out in Minneapolis. Scheduled for next week.

Love the term Chillax! Perfect for this thread.

You should obviously blow out your lines as soon as you can but even in MA it is unlikely you will get a hard, deep, ground freeze for awhile yet? Obviously things like drip irrigation lines on the surface would be the most vulnerable.

Weathermen always deal in air temperatures (not soil temperatures) and tend to be dramatic to capture ongoing listeners. Air temperatures are widely variable in a metro area and you probably know the low cold spots, a the warm areas. - We can have a temporary short morning variation in our area of 15F, but that usually affects only vegetation.

Hey all, thanks for your replies. I cracked up at "chillax" because I definitely was way over the top in my post. Even after owning my house for almost a year (it will officially be one year tomorrow!), I still sometimes react disproportionately to situations.

I've shut off the water for tomorrow and am not giving it another thought. :)
