A melon half upside down will attract them. In California I just had too many because nobody else put out pellets or anything. I had no choice but to use a pesticide and even then the little suckers would attack the things I like most along with their shelled cousins the snails. The animals that used to feed on the slugs are all gone. Rapid development killed off their environments before they could move and adapt.
