Flower Garden help

Hi all,
This is my first post so I'm looking for any suggestions. I live in New England,so I will be planting flowers in my garden soon. I have 2 sides to my garden and during the season 1 side grows ALOT . . .and the other side not so much, we pick flowers the don't need a heck of a lot of sun, but still one side (that gets more sun) grows better, Can anyone suggest what kind of flowers/ plants i should get this year that might get bigger throughout the season? (sun/shade mix)

Thanks!

Flower Garden help

I've found that anything that gets more sun will grown bigger
I plant almost totally perennials or bulbs now - very few tulips
My garden on the East side of the house has not done much
I did plant some shade flowers out there years ago....but they haven't spread much
The gardens in the back of the house grown great
So much so that I weed out perennials & toss some every year

Any pics of the gardens ?
Do they face South ...or ?
