I have a woodend deck that is set on concrete blocks on the ground...can I use a fire pit on the deck...should I put something underneth it to prevent the heat from burning the deck?

Fire pit

Just saw an artical in the paper about fire pits. It said gas ones were allowed, by local fire code, to be on decks but not wood burning ones. Bet your fire deparment could answer for your location.
