Drainage, grass issue.

We have a walk-out basement and had a foundation guy come out and take a look at some cracking. He said cracking isn't bad and recommended we run plastic 1' under the dirt and 5' away from the house.

My question is, when we do this can grass grow in the 1' of soil? Or should be plan on landscaping where we bury the plastic?

Thanks,
Ben

you should be fine at 12 inches deep, most grasses only root in the top 6 inches.
