Douglas Fir vs Basement
 

I have an ancient Douglas Fir about 20 feet from my house. I have a full basement and the tree has not caused any damage to my 70 year old basement walls or floor, although a sidwalk nearer the tree is cracked and lifted about 6 inches.

A young Douglas Fir is now growing about 8 feet from the house and I was wondering if I might need to relocate this tree. It is currently about 6 feet tall.

8' is too close for trees that mature to a large size like Douglas Fir. Should be an easy transplant.
