Default dogs and shrubs

last year i planted roughly 30 shrubs in my yard. many different rodys, eunonymous, butterfly bush, hydrangea, climbing hydrangea, roses, blah blah blah. i have 2 male dogs and they are really fighting against me trying to fix up my yard. i have lost several shrubs, and some are really not doing so well. the fact that they are both male and when one pees and the other has to go and pee over his pee, really doesnt help any. are there any shrubs that are more tollerant to animal urin? i really cant keep an eye on them 24/7 and i cant imagine a good looking short fence set up that wont take away fron the shrubs. any ideas? if i buy larger size shrubs will they hold up better?
