Is it self propelled? Seems they make both flavors at that size? If its not, its not a good deal, brand new from sears they run from 189-209. If it is I have heard of some people complaining that the drive system is pretty lax in power. So if you have a hilly yard it might not be strong enough.

thank you so much! i do have a hilly yard! any recommendation?

How much are you looking to spend?

ha, not much. around 300. Second hand would be better. could save me a lot of money.

I have seen a handful on closeout and specials at Lowes and Home Depot. I tried to find you a good listing of reviews. It seems consumer reports might be a good place to check out. But I don't have a membership there. :(

Also you might want to type in the one you were looking at and read some of the reviews yourself. I am sure most self-propelled at the lower price points might not do well on steep inclines. So that one still might not be a bad deal. I couldn't find it in the self propelled model, was trying to find out how much it was new. My guess would be around 289 or so.

If you do go that route, and just want a new one with warranty. Lowes carries Troybilts which are almost identicle. They have a 6.75" HP, 21" mower for 269.00 at the moment.

I have own Honda's and the Troybilt / Honda version and they were great. I still have one thats over 15 years old now. Only problem they are about 100 bucks more for the Honda engine models.

I'm sorry I am not much help, its so hit and miss with Mowers now-a-days. I guess they have all gone the "Cheaper" route. My only issue with the 2 year old one is, what happens if it breaks after a week? And would it be worth the extra 80 bucks for a brand new one?

If you settle on a different model let me know!

Good Luck!:)

Is this what you are talking about? New , Troy-Bilt 160cc / 21" High Wheeled Self-Propelled Lawn Mower,HONDA engine, but without warranty. 309 CAD, worth?

What model is that? Are you finding these off of a local Craigs list or something? Its hard to find out how much a model is in the store new without the model since they vary. Like I said I found a troy-bilt at Lowes yesterday cheap. But the exact model isnt listed on their website. If you can contact these people and get the model?

it's a second hand. somebody bought it but moved to a condo. just give me this link
http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/co...=1204830145481. the same thing.

Taipans 03-06-2008 02:52 PM

Link doesn't work for me, asks for a postal code for the best deal in my area. I am trying to find one that matches.

So I'm guessing you live in Canada right? Prices I am sure will vary, I didn't notice that until you posted that link?

I'm sorry I wasn't much help. I was hoping someone else would chime in around here. One tip, when you settle on a model you want to buy, search it out and see how many problems people are having. Other then that as long as you stick with a more "name" brand mower you most likely will be fine.
