Craftsman 27.0HP Tractor

Good Afternoon,
I have a Craftsman 27.0 riding tractor. Tractor is not starting, we charged battery and decide to purchase a new battery just in case. Install new battery and tractor still not turning over and there is gas in tractor. So when you turn key, all you hear is a click sound, nothing else. Can you and how do you test the ignition switch or faulty solenoid or starter? Any advise will be greatly appreciated... Thank You
Lisa in CT

Replace the starter solenoid. Done deal. It should look something like this...

It should be easy to locate, because the positive battery cable will be connected to it.

I would head that way too, but, after checking that the cable ends are clean and tight at the battery, the solenoid, and the ground from the negative battery cable to the frame.
