Concrete Acid Coloring

Has anyone used Acid to color their concrete? I was wondering how hard this is to do for a DIYer. I am going to put a new patio in next spring but wanted it colored for a better effect since doing pavers / stamping would cost way more.

I also was going to do the Acid treatment on my basement floor and put down some area rugs instead of carpeting. Some of the pictures I have come across were fairly impressive. But I have not seen it in person.

Thanks
