cistern

Ayuh,.... Either Beat, drill, pound, hammer, pry the walls apart, 'n export it,...
Or,...
Punch a hole in the bottom, 'n fill it with sand, or dirt, or rumble, or whatever you'd like...

What's the problem with just leaving it be,..??

An old friend who had 1, We sawcut a doorway in it, 'n he turned it into 'is private Wine Cellar...

cistern

Do you mean a drywell or catch basin in your yard? If so fill mostly with gravel and breakup the top into it with a jackhamer or sledgehamer and fill the top 12" with top soil. I think a cistern is a water container in in old house that is in the attic that used gravity to make the plumbing work. If this is what you have I would cut it up and put it in the trash bin.
