I had my sprinklers blown out in the fall, now that the weather is nice it's time to get the sprinklers going.
Except when I tried to open the valves on the backflow preventer (Febco 765), they won't budge!
Here's a photo (sorry it's so blurry, I was crawling under the porch and supporting myself with one hand ):
It looks like it was winterized properly - the ball valves are turned 45 degrees. But neither of them will move. I tried taking the handle off and turning it with a pair of channel locks, but still nothing.
Meanwhile, my lawn is drying out.
Any ideas on what I can try to get these valves to turn?
Can you cut the supply to them for a few minutes or are they your last line between the system and your home water? If you can cut the pressure off, go turn on some heads and then try once all the pressure bleeds off. I have used hammers and longer pipes with success to but be careful.
