building a fence

hey yall working on building a new privacy fence and am currently undecided on using cedar pickets vs. pressure treated pickets.

We are only going to be in the house for an additional 4 maybe 5 years so going all out with cedar seems to be kind of a waste(not going to be a lot of resale i fear)

What are the pros/cons of each

Go with cedar and seal it. Use pressure treated 2x4's and a 2x6 on the bottom to protect it from the weed eater.

I'd like to know, also.

If you are only going to be there for 4-5 years, I would suggest saving money by doing pressure treated. If you were there longer, I would say cedar as it will generally last longer and look nicer (assuming you properly maintain it). A good cedar can be quite a bit more expensive though.

Fence

Short period of time, go with the PT and stain it. Will last, look nice, and will look like new again if you give it a spruce up when you go to sell.
