Brown "stalks" in an otherwise green yard.
Just a few moderately-sized sections in my front 1-acre yard poking up through the green grass. I believe I stated noticing it mid-summer. The green grass hides it well when it's tall right before a mowing.

I've had people tell me it's zoysa, crabgrass and annual ryegrass. I have no idea so here I am!

I agree. IMO, Annual rye grass. Grows fast and often blended in with other grass seed. Once it goes through it's cycle that's it. Dies out after temperature rises (Mid summer or so). Need to mow lawn regularly and it will be gone - that's what's nice about it. It looks like you keep your lawn on the tall side, mow more often and a little shorter (1-1.5 inches) if you want the grass greener. Just a thought. You can google annual rye grass and read up on it, nothing to worry about.

I believe you may be right. Hopefully, I can combat it next year more effectively. Thanks.

Go with Zoysia, less mowing, less water, less maintenance!
