Best time of year to start weed killing

I live in the Houston, TX area. Lately, we have been having some odd weather. It gets warm (in the 70's) then cold (in the 50's) and in between we get a lot of rain. I have bermuda grass that is coming out of dormancy and my back yard is getting overrun with weeds. I was told to be careful WHEN you apply a weed-n-feed mix. I know not to do it when it's too hot. Is it still too early in the season to weed-n-feed?

I live in Georgia and last week we just applied out pre emergent weed killer

As soon as your grass is active, so are the weeds. I put down pre emergent (in Iowa) in late Feb/early march, or as soon as we start getting highs in the 50's consistently.

If you have weeds already you will want a post-emergent herbicide appropriate for type weeds you have. You should be alright putting it down or spraying now where you are.

The pre-emergent weed killer only works on the weeds correct? How would this affect any planting of grass seed? Rather, when would it be ok to seed afterwards?

Pre-emergent weed killer will also prevent grass seeds from germinating! The length of time depends on the product.

Most products I am familiar with say to wait 6-8 weeks before seeding. Give or take depending on how much rain you get. 8 with little to normal rainfall, and 6 with heavy rain fall.

The word is HERBICIDE. Spelled out. Plant killer.

A pre-emergent herbicide kills for a period of time specified on the label by keeping seeds from germinating. Some only go after things like crabgrass. Others like Preen take on anything like even Marigold seeds.

Hire someone if you have to ask this question. Or you could kill thinks you never meant to kill.
