How do you take the pulleys off of the shaft to get to the bearings to change them or do you buy the spindle and the shaft and the pulleys seperately

Okay, this is a big stab in the dark, as I can only assume that you are talking about lawn mower deck spindles, since it is under landscaping. In general, the spindles, bearings, and sheaves or pulleys are individual items that you would purchase and replace individually, as needed. The sheaves or pulleys are typically going to be mated to the spindle with a woodruff or square key, and held in place with some manner of set screw, whether recessed allen type, or a simple cap screw located on a shoulder. With the screws removed, you should be able to separate the components, with various degrees of difficulty, depending on quality, wear, rust, abuse, etc. The bearings are typically pressed in place, such that they need to be pressed off. Sometimes a large bench vice or C clamp, along with some strategically placed sockets, pieces of steel, etc. can be enough to separate them, but other times a press is required. Many local machine shops or auto parts stores are so equipped, and can assist you for a nominal fee.
