Bahai grass and clippings

Time to make my lawn a little better, but do not want to till and redo so am over seeding with Bahia.

I am a victim of Too Much Info on the internet by "experts"..

So anyway I have decided on Argentine Bahia as I am in SW FL. I thatched the lawn and have cut it as short as possible and picked up as much clippings as possible with my garden tractor bagger.

There in lies my question. It seems I read somewhere that after seeding the seeds could be covered with hay. I have many bags of clippings, why can't I spread the clipping's over the seeds? Seems like a good idea, but I have had lot's of "good Ideas" that really did not work out too well. Thanks JIm

I'd use straw instead of hay, don't use the grass clippings.

tHANKS FOR THE RESPONSE. 5000 sf or so. I checked at the local feed supply, he said they use hay. So if my clippings were a foot long and baled they would be hay. So I am going to use very short hay JIm
