Sod might take but you would be risking a fair amount of change. Can you pick up a trial piece of sod? You will know in short order if it dies because of the herbicide.
Atrazine is a cheap and effective herbicide and among the most used in the World at least on ag crops. It is totally banned in the European Union now though because of concerns about water contamination, unusually high incidents of birth defects, irregular menstruation in women near measurable amounts of runoff, even with measured concentrations well below the accepted government limits, etc. Be careful with the stuff.
