ashes on the lawn ?

hello. i new to lawn care. i have a makeshift fire pit, i used to burn branches, leaves and some long dead grass. i now have a pile of ash's . i need to dispose of them. i have some holes in the lawn from a swing set that used to be in the back yard. i was thinking of dumping the ash's in these holes. and/or just spreading the ash's out in the yard.

thoughts ?

thanx
