22" 5hp snow king by murray no longer will propel itself


my 5hp 22" snow king ultra by murray will no longer propel itself when i squeezt the propel handle. any thoughts??

The friction disc may be bad. Check your manual to find yours and compare yours to a pic of a new one on google. That may be your problem because it propels your blower.

Does the propel handle have any tension when you squeeze it? If not, it might be something as simple as needing to tighten it, or a spring popped off.

Mostly though, you're going to have to go exploring. Slowly dismantle things "down there." I think the problem will become obvious fairly quickly.


*If you're unsure and/or a newbie, take pictures before you disassemble things. It's good for the memory. Also, if you want to, you can post some of them and we can see if we can spot the problem.

I would start with the rod or cable (if any) attached to the propel handle or lever. There is usually a turnbuckle type adjustment to tighten this up.

Stop wasting time re-adjusting the pattern. Have several lawn sprinklers, one for each pattern.
