2 Gardening Questions from WI

#1 I have 2 mature pine trees that I would like to prune and spray. Is it too late in the spring to prune them?? Also, if I wanted to do this myself, how would I go about it.

#2 I have a bed facing north that has euonymous, hosta, astilbe and boxwood. The boxwood are on their third season and don't appear to be doing anything yet. The rest has growth and looks good except the boxwood. What should I do??

2 Gardening Questions from WI

#1 - Here's a couple of sites that will help with pruning your pines:
www.ehow.com/how-15254-prune-pine-trees.html
www.finegardening.com/howto/videos/pruning-conifers-how-to- prune-pine-trees.aspx
It's too complicated to explain in writing & there's videos you can watch.

#2 - Your boxwood is probably not doing anything because they grow best in shade with well drained soil. I'd be yankin' it out. Planted one myself last year & had to pull it because it choked sitting in drenched soil.
Live & learn. Hope this helps. Good luck & God Bless!
