10x10 patio, need help w/ some simple design idea

Our backyard patio is pretty small as you can see in the pic that I have provided. We loved this design, but we were unsure on how to incorporate it with our patio.

http://landscapescomplete.com/yahoo_...73.2583700.JPG

We like the semi circle retainer wall with holes in the middle of each brick along with an area at the end we could install a plant or some flowers. In our case we would have to make this design into a half-square. If we pick up the materials and landscape stone is this pretty easy to install by ourselves? Does anyone know how much it might cost us to hire a landscape contractor for a small project like this?

As far as a brick patio we are undecided.

Behind our line of 11 blue spruces we live next to a street and the blue spruces are about 3-4 ft away from our patio.

Any suggestions would help us alot, thanks!

I put in over 600 ft of patio and sidewalk this last summer and I can tell you its rough work.

Here's a manufacturer that has some downloads to show you what your in for.

Your tree roots may be a concern here.

I agree, the tree roots would be a concern as well.

As you're looking at the picture, I would carve out a curved planting bed area, perhaps 3 feet wide (since it's a small space), that runs parallel to the edge that is straight ahead. When you get near the corner on the right (by the wall you have in place) round out the corner so it's planting area and go up that wall a few feet. This way it all flows together. Hope that makes sense.
