your guestimation and or opinion on removing a bedroom

I want to remove the bedroom floor above the living room (its a 3 bedroom home and I only need the one master bedroom and a guest room) to create an open to above living room. I would want to leave a very small portion of the flooring from the bedroom and add supports to create a balcony/office desk area that overlooks the newly opened living room.

Is this possible? Best guess on the cost to a project like this (I know this is a DIY forum but I don't plan on doing any of it myself). Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

There's so many variables and factors involved in something like that, it's impossible to even guess. Over $1 less than $1,000,000 ...really though, it would be best to call several LOCAL, LICENSED, INSURED contractors for opinions and bids. Without seeing what you have, I would hate to either A)scare you out of the idea with a high price...or B) get your hopes up with a low one.

I'd like to point out ( unless you plan on staying there along time) you might hurt yourself on resale only having a 2 bedroom home verses having 3 bedrooms. Just my opinion!
