Window Trim

Hi,

I would like to either replace or paint my window trim with white and replace the casing with something more updated. I would like opinions. I will definately replace the casing but should I replace the innner trim or can I just paint it? I have attached a few pics. Please let me know what you think.

BY inner trip are you talking about the extension jambs? If so then just paint them and be done with it.

Why would you remove this wood to only replace it with other wood? It's just a filler piece.
I'd open the side trim pieces to see if they're wide for a reason. They could be there to cover a large gap.
