window jambs flush with framing

I am renovating a room in my house and have removed the old drywall and window trim
and have discovered that the window jambs are flush with the framing. Could I just
install new window trim and have the contractor drywall around the trim? Or do I need
to build up the jambs by adding 1 inch material? I am installing 3/4" tongue and groove
boards which will butt up against the window trim, the top portion is to be drywalled
in 1/2inch drywall.

Typically you would build out the window jamb past the framing so it will be flush with the drywall.

Yep thats what I thought you would say. I guess I am going have to get " unlazy" and
just do build up those jambs.

Porch,
go to the lumber yard and get some parting stop molding. It's 1/2" x 3/4", rectangular in shape. Inexpensive and easier than pulling out the table saw. Load up the brad tacker and go to town with it.
