Window Flashing with Felt Siding
Installed new pvc nail fin sliders into ro. The stucco guys just finished wrapping the wall that has the new sliders. The first layer is Tyvek, then 2 sheets of heavy felt - I believe 30 lb. They did not tape the tyvek to the window frames/fins. They said they normally do not do that. Tyvek and felt paper were stapled to the studs and just lay o the wind nail fins. After much internet research it seems that taping the tyvek to the window jams would have been a good thing. Now that all the lathing is up and the tyvek is hidden behind the 2 ply felt paper - is it a good idea to tape the felt paper to the window jams? Should I use Jiffy Seal as its asphalt based? Seems like this would provide another barrier? Live in Sacramento area. Gets hot and rarely below freezing. Lots of winter rain.
Thank you. |
