Where to vent bath/stove?

I'm probably going to be installing a bath fan and a stove vent in the near future. Is there any advantage to venting out the soffit over going straight up through the roof?

Can you vent a stove out through a soffit?

Thanks for any input!

IM (not so)HO-----see I'm honest..

Bath vent to soffit //yes...one less hole in the roof, performs as well, and cost effective. AL flex duct or plastic should be ok (you might want to check local code).. be sure duct joints are sealed and I would insulate duct ( just to avoid possible condensation problems.)

Kitchen vent: Go to the roof...You want this as straight as possible so you can exhausts as much as possible. If you vent this to the soffit you risk a visible smokey grease trail.. shingles for the most part do fine,,and the junk gets washed away when it rains.

have fun
