vinyl jamb extensions
We just had new windows installed in a new home construction. The contractor did not factor the strapping required for the wood siding and as a result we are an inch short in the jambs. What can we do?
Just use 1 X clear pine, or birch.
If you are referring to the interior side of the windows: You can furr out the jambs using comparable material (to the planned interior wood finish trim). The width of the extension pieces should be 1/16" proud of the the actual width (depth) - difference - that you are trying to make-up.
If its going to be painted trim work, Poplar wood is the suggested wood-stock to use (as it has less knots and covers well with paint).
