venting a bathroom
What to do when the floor joists run the wrong way? The bath is on the ground floor of a two story apartment building. Original plan was to run the vent out the side of the building between the two floors, but the joists are blocking this exit. Is a side mount my only option? Are they effective?
The easiest and least expensive way to vent this bathroom is to install an exterior wall-mount just below ceiling joist level to vent it outside.
I would install a larger CFM fan motor unit. As far as I'm concerned, you can't install "too much" vent fan capacity in a bathroom to begin with.
The same-brand unit housings may be the same size, but get the one with the largest CFM fan motor. The CFM should be on the boxes.
